Nando's is a South African restaurant chain, specialising in chicken dishes. The chain was founded in 1987 in Rosettenville, Johannesburg, by Portuguese immigrants Fernando Duarte and Robert Brozin. Nando's operates in 30 countries on five continents. It has over 1,200 outlets in 30 countries. The company is headquartered in South Africa.

The Nando's story began in 1987 when Fernando Duarte and Robert Brozin, two young entrepreneurs from Johannesburg, South Africa, bought a small Portuguese chicken restaurant in the city. They renamed it Nando's, after the restaurant's original owner Fernando.

Duarte and Brozin immediately saw the potential in the business and set about expanding it. They opened their first franchise restaurant in 1992 and by 1998, Nando's had grown to become a household name in South Africa with over 100 restaurants across the country.

In the early 2000s, Nando's began its international expansion, opening its first restaurant outside of South Africa in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This was followed by expansion into the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United States, India, Malaysia and more recently, China.

Today, Nando's is enjoyed by millions of people around the world and has become synonymous with quality chicken, flame-grilled to perfection.
